The New Yorker Concept
The following is a mixed media and digital illustration concept for The New Yorker magazine, inspired by Eustace Tilley, the original cover art for the magazine’s first issue in February 1925, created by Rea Irvin. Over the years, the Eustace Tilley has been updated in several renditions by a variety of artists. Traditionally, Rea Irvin's original Tilley cover illustration is used every year on the issue closest to the anniversary date of February 21, though on several occasions a newly drawn variation has been substituted. My rendition of Tilley explores a more serious topic, the irreversible damage and affects of pollution and climate change.
