MorePower

With fitness being a top priority and health standard today, it is essential that people are aware of the fitness opportunities around them. This means having access to a variety of fitness centers, gyms, specialized classes, and other fitness opportunities. More Power is a conceptualized fitness app that offers daily activity tracking, insights, analytics, and recommendations of nearby gyms that are specifically catered to the user’s needs. Our goal is to provide users with the resources and tools that they need to meet their fitness goals and live a healthier life.

Project Overview

CHALLENGE

Design a health and wellness app to improve the user’s experience in their navigating their fitness journey.

ROLE

UX,UI design, visual/ graphic design, illustrator

Independently lead and apply the Design Thinking Process through the phases of development: User Research, creating user flows, ideating, wire-framing, content strategy, branding, and prototyping

TIME

4 weeks

Tools

Photoshop, Illustrator, XD

SOLUTION:

Design an application that meets the goals of the business and the user

Branding that communicates MorePower’s purpose

User Persona

The main User persona was developed to represent a real user in MorePower’s target market, created through research. Meet Caitlyn! This persona guided all decisions, as preferences and needs were considered throughout the process. The user has been broken down by their attributes, pain points, motivations, goals and responsibilities.

User Journey

The user journey reflects the personal journey Caitlyn experiences while using the app.

Mind Map

I began my brainstorming process by introducing and analyzing the basic criteria of the app. This began with analyzing the functions, audience, and differences between this app and its competitors. I went with a mind map for this portion of brainstorming so that I could generate and record as many ideas as possible.

Reflection & Next Steps

The MorePower app delivers all basic functions that were described in the research and meets the original goals that I had for this project. With this being my first UI/UX project, this was an interactive introduction to the UI/UX design process. This project has taught me that attention to detail, empathy, curiosity, and passion are the key drives for a successful UI project. If I could improve this project, I would add a quiz component where users can identify their fitness needs through a question-and-answer sequence. This was an original concept that was outlined in the preliminary work, so this is a feature that I would like to revisit and add to the app. I would also conduct user interviews and testing the prototype as part of the Design Thinking Process. Overall this was a fun project to complete and I look forward to applying the skills and knowledge I have gained to future projects.
